As the last bag of puppy chow dwindles down and October sets in I’m constantly reminded that my sweet pup will no longer be a “pup” come Oct. 16. He will officially be an “adult.” But to look at him and think “adult” is virtually impossible. I mean, look at that sweet face:

That photo was taken a few days after I brought him home last December. Don’t worry, I won’t be lame and make him a cake and have a “Dog Party” for him, but you can bet he’s going to get some special treats on his special day :)
You probably know by now that 1 in 5 American households no longer have landlines (or is that never had them?). Well, I’m one of them. I rely on my cell phone for anything for Internet browsing, weather-checking, bill paying, texting, work calls sometimes during the week, and regular calls. And, despite one unfortunate incident last year when I left it in a friend’s car (and had to go to the nearest grocery store to call that person to let them know), I haven’t had much trouble. Well, this weekend, the infamous Carter (also known as “jailbreak”) decided to eat my phone. (ugh!) So, here is my cheap self getting ready to go to the store to get a new phone (already very unhappy about the cost) and low and behold my car.is.dead.
Wonderful.
I am now stranded without a phone to call for help.
Lesson learned. I need a backup.
So, yeah. I had a GREAT weekend.
No- not my haircut. Poor Carter’s. As you all probably know, Carter usually sports his moppy ‘do around town. Depending on how much time he’s given me to brush and trim him, he may or may not be able to see. And running in the woods with my parent’s golden, well- it was always messy. So, in light of my upcoming trip and his upcoming vacation at my parent’s house, I took him to the groomer- the same groomer that did an amazing job on him in his early days. Well, I showed them this picture of what I wanted:

Cute, right?
Well, my sweet boy, who went in looking like this:
came out like this:
I am not amused OR pleased.
What would possess them to remove my little pup’s “einstein-esque” flocks?? The upside? He won’t get dirty easily over the next two weeks romping around with the golden retriever. The downside? My sweet Cockapoo puppy looks like a knockoff toy poodle. (ugh)
Here’s to hoping it grows out a little more before I get back. I’m so sorry, Carter.
A taste of my weekend.
Carter: Cockapoo, 4 months
Murphy: Cocker-Beagle-Poodle mix, 5 years
Normally I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but every once in awhile something special just “makes my day.” Today, it was getting a special treat from my dear cousins in Minnesota! Take a look!

That’s my sweet puppy, Carter, and my family dog, Molly. Loving on each other. They are best buds :)
Hope your day is amazing!!
Driving to work today, in the rain, at least 10 people on the highway felt the need to slam their brakes for no reason. Yes, I was frustrated. And by about the fifth time I was yelling at my windshield. Not really the way I wanted to start my day….but, like my friend said, “It’s true, I’d rather drive to work on a snow day than a rainy day.” Why do crazy drivers freak out over a little rain? ANYWAYS, I just think about this little pup at home and try to turn my frown upside down. Lame, I know. Does it work? Totally.
“Whoever said you can’t buy happiness forgot little puppies”
Lots of changes in the past couple weeks, here’s a preview of my new little bundle of joy.
His favorite things:
- Rolling with the big dogs. Carter hasn’t figured out that he is a cocker spaniel mix (Cockapoo)…so, he likes to hassle my parent’s golden retriever and my friend’s lab mixes as if he’s going to grow up to be just like them.
- Grabbing shoes and carrying them around the apartment.
- Learning to be housetrained. Ok, maybe that’s MY favorite thing.
- Snuggling. Yep, he’s my little man.
Happy New Year!
