My attempt at craftyness..

A few of you have asked me to do a post on some of the things I’ve done to decorate my new apartment. Truth be told, I haven’t done much. The ceilings in my apartment are huge! Like 20 feet, so it pretty much leaves out painting (since that would be a pain to undo), and anything I really put on the walls tends to get drowned out. As a result, I’ve concentrated on defining spaces- more specifically, I’ve concentrated on the loft, the stairs, entry and porch. :)

I’ve included a few snapshots below, and will try to take photos of the rest of the place soon— once I get a few more things done!

Here’s a shot of the left side of the loft upstairs. The other side still has boxes and stuff, and I’m trying to figure out how to create a potential “guest space” up here for visitors, but for now this it the workspace I’ve created. I love it because it’s so airy up there. I can also see out the skylight, spy on Carter when he’s downstairs, and see out the porch window. This is where you’d find me if you saw me working from home. I’m still working on finding a better chair though— that’s currently one of my dining room chairs. The desk is from IKEA and it’s actually a drafting table with a light box in it, and is tiltable, which makes it great for my crafting on the weekends!

These next two shots are of decorations I added in the entry hallway (there’s also a 3D display of silver dragonflies on the stairs, but I couldn’t seem to get a good shot. Another day, my friends.) The heart is a picture frame on the inside of the door. It was a 10 cent snag from the flea market (while looking for a bunch of frames for another upcoming project), and with a little paint I already had on hand, it served a cute purpose. Just in case you’re wondering- yes, I did get the idea from Friends!).

I actually made the coat/leash hanger out of wood, wrapping paper, sealant and spray adhesive. I bought the hooks from Lowe’s. Super easy. Super Customizable. Super Cute.

This last shot is of my patio. (If you’re wondering, that’s not my mini furniture!) I ended up purchasing the chairs at a local shop after my first endeavor was a perfect example of why you should read the fine print when purchasing online. I already had the table, just coated it with a fresh coat of paint, in addition to the pot for the plant. I think it gives a nice breezy, relaxing spot to look out at the creek, the pool, and the woods!

Yes, that’s Carter’s toy lion on the floor ;) He was anxiously awaiting for me to finish taking the picture!
