Rainy Day Pickmeup

Driving to work today, in the rain, at least 10 people on the highway felt the need to slam their brakes for no reason. Yes, I was frustrated. And by about the fifth time I was yelling at my windshield. Not really the way I wanted to start my day….but, like my friend said, “It’s true, I’d rather drive to work on a snow day than a rainy day.” Why do crazy drivers freak out over a little rain? ANYWAYS, I just think about this little pup at home and try to turn my frown upside down. Lame, I know. Does it work? Totally.

A season of new beginnings

As some of you may know, the past three months of my life have been accompanied by a lot of change. Only fitting, I guess, since the seasons have changed from fall to winter. Most of the time when winter rolls around, I’m sad. Everything dies, and after the Christmas lights are taken down….well, it’s just cold. BUT, this season of change has actually brought new “life” to my life. What’s changed?

* A new job. I switched companies in mid October in order to continue following my dreams in corporate communications. Slowly, but surely, my dreams are coming true and I couldn’t be happier with the added on benefits of having an awesome team to work with, a flexible company, and a good job in an especially tough economy.

*A new relationship status. I’ve recently jumped back into bachelorette-dom.  While the decision was hasty, it’s turned out to be a great time for reflection and looking forward. After all, I’m a firm believer that you can’t love someone else until you know and love yourself and know what you want out of life. Keyword: know. With all the changes happening in my life, sometimes I forget to schedule some “me time” in my type A planned lifestyle.

*A new sport. I love kickball, but what I’m learning to love even more? Flag football. Who knew a klutz like me could really appreciate a good game of pigskin. Ok, I don’t really speak like that, but you get the idea.

*Renewed friendships. Now more than ever I’m realizing how important it is to have friends who will lift you up when you’re down, and celebrate with you when you’re up. I’ve always had great friends, but more recently I’ve renewed a friendship with one of the most thoughtful people I know— a friendship that I think both of us were never sure could be mended. So, here’s to a new beginning.

*New family members. Not only have more people in my family married recently, but little ole me is getting ready to adopt a very lucky, soon-to-be-spoiled puppy. Look for updates as the date gets closer!

Cheers!
